Abett™ Launches Lockbox Analytics™
New Lockbox analytics capability gives benefits leaders more insight from data.
Today, Abett is unveiling our latest breakthrough: Lockbox Analytics.
Full transparency, we never wanted to build an analytics product. There is no shortage of “pie chart” products available on the market. Who needs yet another one?
Until now, Abett’s sole focus has been to change healthcare by changing who controls data. The Abett Lockbox gives plan sponsors – and its benefits leadership – full ownership and control of plan data.
At Abett, we were content to leave “insights” to someone else. Our clients had other plans.
Abett’s clients are all at very different points in their journey with data. However, there is one common thread across them:
Frustration. With analytics.
They told us to build something better than what was out there.
Unfortunately, “better” isn’t in our nature. If we are going to build a product, then it needs to be the very best. At Abett, we do not apply 20th century solutions to 21st century problems. We use modern tools and technologies to deliver the best solutions imaginable.
When large plan sponsors asked us to build a “system of record” data management platform for benefits and healthcare data, we reassembled the team that built Amazon’s systems.
So, when we needed the best analytics platform, what did we do?
We gathered the brightest minds from academia – institutions like Harvard and the Institute of Health of Health Metrics and Evaluation – together in a room with benefits leaders at America’s largest employers.
The result? Lockbox Analytics. It’s not your 20th century pie chart. Rather, we believe we have delivered the best analytics solution on the market.
To our remarkable team, thank you for your dedication to excellence. To our clients, welcome to the 21st century, and get ready to experience analytics like never before.
Thanks and best regards.
Mike

Abett™ Launches Lockbox Analytics™
New Analytics Capability Helps Benefits Leaders Get More Insight from Data
TUCSON, BGH Annual Conference; April 10, 2024 - Abett, the makers of Lockbox—an innovative alternative to data warehouses—today announced the launch of a new analytics capability that gives benefits leaders more insight from data: Lockbox Analytics. Abett, a sponsor of Business Group on Health’s Annual Conference, debuted the new capability to hundreds of employers converging on the sold-out show in Tucson, Arizona.
Lockbox Analytics is the first analytics offering for benefits leaders built by health economists in close partnership with benefits teams at large employers. It features both pre-built and customizable dashboards and provides benefits teams access to key insights, summary statistics, and direct querying. Lockbox Analytics also enables the formal de-identification of employer benefits data for direct enterprise use beyond plan administrators.
“There are so many analytics products available already but our clients, America’s top employers, aren’t satisfied. There’s a lot of frustration. There are problems with the data, the analytics aren’t sophisticated enough, dashboards aren’t tailored to their specific data and programs,” said Dr. Mike Hanlon, CEO at Abett. “That’s why we built Lockbox Analytics – to give these benefits teams the modern analytics they need to set them up for success now and in the long run.”
Lockbox Analytics uses the full range of benefits data available to employers—including eligibility, medical and pharmacy claims, point solution data, disability and leave, and retirement—and transforms these information sources into a dimensional data model. The data structure creates the right foundation for analytic reporting through Power BI™, other enterprise business intelligence tools, and customized queries. It also serves as a centralized, formatted source for all relevant member financial, health, and demographic traits.
“Employers need tools that empower them to dig into their benefits data and understand what’s driving total cost of care, health outcomes, and member experience,” said Kate Lofgren, Director of Health Economics and Outcomes Research at Abett. By creating the right foundation with the dimensional data model, we give benefits leaders both real-time monitoring of benefit program performance and the ability to go beyond the dashboard to dig deeper into the underlying data.”
Abett also offers data storage and exchange capabilities through their flagship Lockbox product. With the addition of analytics, Lockbox can be used as a flexible alternative to traditional data warehouses.
