Product and Content Marketing

The role

Abett produces a data-management software product for benefits directors, HR staff, and finance professionals. Our customers range from mid-sized enterprises to firms in the Fortune 50.

In our experience, product management roles are comprised of one or more of the following five functions: 

  1. Market research, including customer segmentation, developing user personas, and managing customer influence maps;

  2. Product feature management, including management of the product roadmap and feature prioritization;

  3. Technical product management, including managing technical personnel to achieve targeted milestones;

  4. Product marketing, including the development and management of product marketing strategies and assets; and

  5. Direct sales support, including the development of bespoke content for specific deals, and directly engaging with prospective customers on an ongoing basis. 

This Product and Content Marketing role will be focused on functions (4) and (5). This role works in close partnership with a Head of Product, and also Account Executives.

Abett is based in Seattle, Washington, but we are a fully distributed (remote) organization. Therefore, you can work from anywhere. This position reports to the Executive Vice President of Product, and compensation includes equity options.  

Context and vision

Employers are important consumers of healthcare, as they agree to terms in benefits plans that dictate what care is available, and how much it costs. However, employers have historically been passive consumers of healthcare. Abett helps employers become fierce consumers of HR benefits and healthcare, which we believe will lead to better care and lower costs.

Abett’s business

We use technology to shift power from entrenched vendors to the employers and patients who pay the bills. We accomplish this mission by delivering a SaaS data-management product for employers. It provides four benefits: (1) a centralized “data store” for HR and healthcare data; (2) automated and secure data transfers between vendors; (3) “swappable” APIs to replace vendors as needed; and (4) compliance with complex laws and regulations.

Our problem, or why we are hiring

Our product is strategically, legally, and technically complicated, and our feature set is expanding rapidly. Our sales team needs better product marketing assets to succeed. Therefore, we are hiring a professional to create and manage those assets.

An ideal candidate and next steps

We expect an ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least 8 years of experience in a combination of product management, product marketing, and audience marketing roles

  • Exhibit demonstrable success at the two marketing functions associated with this role

  • Desire, expect, and demand responsibility

  • Have an extremely well-developed ability to communicate in writing. Give the distributed nature of Abett’s organization, all of our staff must be very capable at both processing and articulating complex ideas in writing

  • Understand the benefits and costs of working in a start-up venture
