Account Executive

The role

Abett produces a data-management software product for benefits directors, HR staff and finance professionals. We are an early-stage company, but already our customers range from mid-sized enterprises to Fortune 100 firms. We are hiring an Account Executive (AE) to use consultative selling skills to identify and establish relationships with small and mid-sized enterprises within a defined geography. The AE will introduce employers to a product that is strategically, legally and technically complicated, and shepherd deals though the sales funnel. Depending on the employer, economic buyers may include HR leaders and C-level executives. Compensation includes significant commission rates, and equity options. Abett is based in Seattle, Washington, but we are a fully distributed (remote) organization. Therefore, you can work from anywhere.

Abett’s business

Employers are key consumers of healthcare, as they agree to terms in benefits plans that dictate what care is available, and how much it costs. However, employers have historically been passive consumers of healthcare. Abett helps employers become fierce consumers, which will lead to better care and lower costs. Our product is highly disruptive, and we have ambitious objectives for how it will impact the industry. Prominent employers share those objectives and vision, which explains why they have partnered with a startup company like Abett, and highlights our success to date. Regarding our product, we shift power from entrenched vendors to the employers and patients who pay the bills. We accomplish this mission by delivering a SaaS data-management product for employers. It provides four benefits: (1) a centralized “data store” for HR and healthcare data; (2) automated and secure data transfers between vendors; (3) “swappable” APIs, to replace vendors as needed; and (4) compliance with complex laws and regulations.

An ideal candidate and next steps

We expect an ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience selling software solutions to benefits directors and financial staff of small and mid-sized enterprises. We are most interested in candidates with a demonstrable track record of meeting and exceeding sales quotas.

  • Desire, expect, and demand responsibility

  • Have an extremely well-developed ability to communicate in writing. Given the distributed nature of Abett’s organization and the complexity of our product, all of our staff must be very capable at both processing and articulating complex ideas in writing

  • Understand the benefits and costs of working in a start-up venture.
